shoptalk : Emilia Flower Garland, the pattern

emma lamb

Hello, hello!

Goodness this week is hurtling by! Not that that's a bad thing because I seem to be in 'achieving mode' this week with lots of behind the scenes kinda stuff. Mostly finishing projects and tying up the loose ends of 2013 before the holidays start; getting on top of the Christmas shopping and dare I say it starting to plan for 2014! Okay so most of you will probably have started your 2014 planning already, especially if you're running your own small business, but with the last few months I've had here it feels like an epic achievement for me! I feel so excited about it all too. My creativity has been in such a slump lately with my motivation being thwarted at every available opportunity. But it's time to put that aside, take a rest and gather my thoughts over the holidays before diving headlong into that plan! I know I've been hinting at new things for months now but you know, stuff got in the way. Now it's time to just bloody well get on with it and get it done!

With that said, here's something kinda new for you...

Emilia Flower Garland, crochet pattern by Emma Lamb
£4.00, via Ravelry

I am sure some of you will recognise my Emilia Flower Garland design from Mollie Makes earlier this year, but now I can offer you all my spiffy new PDF version. Yay! I popped it into my Etsy, Ravelry and Folksy shops late last night - note that if you purchase it from Etsy and Ravelry you will be able to download your PDF immediately, however if you purchase through Folksy I will need to email you with a PDF attachment. On, and if you purchase via the handy wee 'buy now' button above that is also via Ravelry, the same as the other 'buy now' links in my pattern page.

As I mentioned this PDF went live late last night and I woke up this morning to lots of sales already (thank you so much everyone!) as well as some super lovely feedback left on my Facebook page...

"I just bought and downloaded the Emilia flower garland pdf pattern and I must say - I am blown away. It's just beautiful to look at, fabulous photos, easy to follow and just all round pretty. Love love love."

This has totally made my day because I worked so hard on this little PDF and I am so proud of it! I do hope you love it too?

shoptalk : giving

emma lamb

'Tis the season of giving, both giving thanks and giving gifts.

As much as life has thrown some crap at me lately there are still so many things to be thankful for. Mostly I'm thankful that we've had the means and capability to deal with the crap and are now able to move on from it with positivity and happiness. It feels good. I am also thankful for your support and want to send a huge hug to everyone for sending me such warm and genuine 'welcome back' wishes this week. I have missed you too! You are the ones who make it such a joy to be part of this community and I wish nothing but wonderful things for each and every one of you!

Happy Holidays! 20% off in my Etsy shop when you enter the coupon code GIVING at checkout | Emma Lamb

I want to give more too and next week I'll be holding two more giveaways here on my blog, but first how about a wee holiday treat!? From today until I close my Etsy shop on December 21st for the holidays I'm offering a shop wide 20% discount, yep that includes custom garlands and mobiles too - but get in quick for those as there are only two weeks for crocheting if you need a pre-Christmas delivery! Just enter the code GIVING at checkout and I'll get your goodies out to you asap! Oh, and the other great news is that from next week I shall be accepting Etsy Gift Cards in my Etsy shop - well, obviously in my Etsy shop! So if you receive one of those in your Christmas stocking and have a hankering for crocheted loveliness you know where to come ;)

shoptalk : the fun of making

A custom Merry Mobile in the works | Emma Lamb

Happy Friday everyone!

Again I find myself wishing that your week has been far better than mine! After the hideous flu bug of last week, this week it's a broken boiler meaning goodness knows how long without heating or hot water. It seems life has a wee bit of shit to throw my way right now, not as much shit as this lady is having to deal with this week, but still - ugh!

All sorts of fun happening on my desk this week | Emma Lamb

So while everything else is going totally cattywampus I am retreating into my studio to play amongst my pretty yarns! I must admit that over the last few weeks the crochet hasn't been going well at all, too many distractions I think. The aforesaid nonsense combined with too may ideas and too many possibilities all juggling around in my grey matter vying for attention. When my mind is racing from one thought to another every few seconds it's difficult to slow it down to focus on what I have in my hands at that moment. Even though I know what I want to do with it my motivation and energy is being sucked up by all these thoughts.

A trio of pincushions added to my shops this week | Emma Lamb

I have achieved one or two things this week so it does feel like thing's might be coming into focus just a wee bit. A few garlands and pincushions have been finished and added to my Etsy shop and Folksy shop shelves, so that's a wee tick off the epic to do list. Phew! I also have a lovely custom mobile project that needs to be completed over the weekend which I'm hoping will help me to focus even more. I so need to get back into a rhythm of being less distracted and to do that I need to do more and think a little less. It's time to stop pondering all the possibilities and remind myself of the fun of just making.

Garlands and pincushions agogo! | Emma Lamb

So that's my plan for this weekend, to just have fun making and forget about all that nonsense!

studio details : busy, busy!

studio details : busy, busy! | Emma Lamb

Hello, hello! Today I'm super busy working on lots of new lovelies for my shop shelves. I wrote an epic 'to do' list late last night. One of those seemingly never ending lists that you write just before you settle down to sleep and one of those lists that if you don't write it you know you're going to have a bunch of crazy dreams about crochet taking over your life - feel free to insert whatever project you are working on just now instead of 'crochet'. Have you ever dreamt of being chased by giant balls of yarn and crochet hooks? No, me neither but I certainly wasn't taking any chances so my 'to do' list was super epic! What I wrote probably translates as thousands of hours of crochet but at least I can tick one 'to do' off the 'to do' list - write the 'to do' list - check! Anyhow, while taking a wee break to rest my hands I was looking through some photos from the last couple of months and found this wee collection of perfectly cheery snaps to brighten up this dreary Tuesday afternoon. Righty-ho then, back to the hooks it is so I can keep that 'to do' list happy lest there be crazy crochet dreams!

shoptalk : my fab new swing tags, I love them!

Working on a new batch of Forever Flower Garlands | Emma Lamb

Oh yes, as well as lots of floral crochet activity in my studio I'm still tinkering in my shops this week restocking some of your favourites and adding some new faces. I'm mostly working on garlands at the moment as you can see, and while finishing up a few ladies I realised I haven't yet shown you my new swing tags! They're from Moo again (see my old ones here) and again I am completely in love with how fab my new branding looks on them. Sweet, simple and colourful once topped with one of my wee crochet flowers and with a length of colourful yarn for hanging...

Lots of fabby new stock for my shop shelves! | Emma Lamb

Up until very recently I was still making my original handmade swing tags for some of my ladies. I still have a bunch of these hanging around so they may turn up on one or two things from time to time, but I am phasing them out in favour of my lovely new branded ones that are much fresher and far more suited to my work as it is now. As ever, to stay up to date with all the new additions and shop news keep a wee eye on my Facebook page for the updates as they happen.
