Good morning everyone... :)
This morning I'm loving a wee bit of vintage kitchen goodness from 'all colours in'. Some retro folk designs and pretty china plates with bold colours including turquoise, hot orange, bright fuchsia pink, bold red and tropical chartreuse green! What more do you need to kick start your Monday morning and maybe inspire a wee bit of afternoon thrifting... !?

Happy, happy Friday my lovelies!

I'm so pleased you liked yesterday's post and Tamar's gorgeous jewelry! I too am still feeling uplifted by her wonderful use of fresh colour, so today I've used that energy and inspiration for this pretty spring palette. Warm pinks, creamy yellows and vintage aqua with fresh spring greens. I know the snowdrops are only just blooming now, but on this bright sunny day with clear blue skies I can't help but think of daffodils and tulips... *sigh* ...I hope it lasts all weekend!

Oh, apart from tomorrow, exactly on the spot where a very dear blogging buddy of mine is getting married! She would very much like just a wee smattering of pretty snow for her photographs, thank you! I just know she is going to have the most perfect day as she has meticulously planned a wonderful 'tea party' themed wedding, do pop by her lovely wee blog for a sneak peek. Oh, I am so excited for her!

jewellery box : a breath of fresh spring air from Nest Pretty Things

That's exactly what I felt when I saw this gorgeous new spring collection of fabric necklaces by Tamar, of Nest Pretty Things, over on Flickr the other day. I have long been a fan of miss Tamar's designs because of her unfearing use of bold but pretty colours and how she marries them perfectly with a very feminine granny chic style. If you have not seen miss Tamar's designs before please do take a peek at this beautiful Roma Necklace, a classic example of her signature style.

I am particularly fond of these new fabric necklaces because, while some are still very feminine, others are a wee bit more edgy. I love how the snippets of floral fabrics she has used have become abstracted so that the focus shifts to the blocks of colour, as in her 'Modern' series. Just lovely!

If you enjoyed this wee sample of Tamar's work I promise you will love the rest of her collection, which is sure to banish any January blues you might be feeling. Oh, and she also has a very sweet children's collection over in her Nest Pretty Things Kids store, which is well worth a peek too.

Happy Thursday to you all,

I have a winner to announce!
Although first, I must confess that I have spent most of the morning pondering clever and witty ways in which to choose a winner. But despite my concentrated pondering I was severely lacking in anything witty or even vaguely clever. So when my Man called me a few minutes ago the very first thing I said to him (after 'Hello' and 'Hold on a sec I've got a mouthful of sandwich!') was 'Pick a number between 1 and 85!'...

Of course he politely did and that number was... 72! So the lovely winner of miss Edith is Paint Drops Keep Falling, aka Claire Leggett, who wrote...

"Emma, I love your use of colour, your use of the word 'wee' and your hard work trawling Fickr for the most inspiring photo's and colour palettes."

Thank you so much to Claire and everyone else who took the time to enter this wee giveaway with a few words of support for this wee blog of mine. It is such a pleasure for me to be able to share my inspirations with you here and to know that you appreciate them and maybe even find some inspiration for yourself is just wonderful... :)

Thank you all so much and I do hope you all have the best day possible!

winter warmth...

I have a wee confession... I have not picked up my camera in three days! I know, I know, I'm a very naughty girl... :(
But, in my defence, there have been one or two crazy exciting things going on here that I'm trying to organise, which I'm sure will more than make up for breaking my resolution! Hopefully it won't be long before I can tell you all about them, because if I don't tell you about them soon I might just explode! So while I hold myself together I thought it would be nice to share some of the pics I snapped when I was being a very good girl... :)
I've been noticing a lot of warm twinkly gold around me this winter, dark shadows and deep rusty oranges. As the days have been mostly sunny and snowy, instead of dull and grey, I've been more embracing of the dark nights, happy to cosy up in the amber glow of candles and enjoy this winter warmth...

Happy, happy Monday everyone... :)

I have had a wonderful weekend of not doing very much at all, taking in some r'n'r in what seems like a very successful attempt at keeping Mr Lurgy at bay! He has been banging at my door for over a week, I think with a wee bit help from the January blues! So there was nothing for it but to barricade myself in with lots of yummy food, a good book, a bottle of wine and plenty of chocolate... ;)
Although I was feeling a wee bit squiffy first thing this morning (maybe a wee bit too much wine!?) all seems to be quiet now, I can't even here a tapping at the door... Mr Lurgy must have got bored and gone to harass someone else. Yay... :)

So today I thought some fresh, fun and cute finds from 'all colours in' would be just the ticket to kick off our week with a cheery smile to fend off those January blues... :) I certainly know that Mis Tif's collection of gorgeous dolls and dala horses will keep me smiling all week, without the merest hint of jealousy... honest!

Wow! So it's Friday already, this week just seems to have whizzed by. There have been so many exciting things going on and I've had a fabulous time! I do hope you have all had a great one too? It has been an absolute joy to read through all your lovely comments on my wee giveaway post this morning. I so hope today's palette lives up to your colour hungry expectations!?

Today I'm going a wee bit girlie with a hint of pretty coral pink but keeping it grounded with deep charcoal greys and simple shapes. A kind of sophisticated grown up girlie, smart and elegant not frou-frou and frilly! What I also love about the images in this palette is their subtle coherence of natural materials ~ cotton, linen, wood and paper. I didn't notice it at first as I was so focused on the colour. There is the subtle theme of angles and lines that also ties these images together so nicely. I definitely think this palette will be going into my favourite of favourites pile!

a celebratory wee giveaway... :)

Hello my dears and a very happy Thursday to you all... :)
So as the title of this wee post states I'm having a wee celebratory giveaway today ~ yay! I'm celebrating that I now have over 1000 of you lovelies showing your support for my wee blog by following it with that wee 'friend connect' widget thingy... that's the one, it has all of your pretty pictures on it... :)
It is an absolute honour and quite frankly blows me away that you all are happy to read my daily mumblings and appreciate all the pretty things I like to share with you. So I want to say a huge thank you to you all with the opportunity to win a very unique garland that I have been working on for months... !
This is miss Edith... (my most favourite name for naming my ladies!)

 height=  height=  height=

Miss Edith is made up of all the snippets of colourful yarns left over from all the garlands I have made over the last few months. Instead of using those leftovers for useful jobs such as tying packages and whatnot I thought it would be a fab idea to make them into a very special 'one of a kind' garland... :) Oh, and as I have already earmarked the next lot of snippets for some pretty clothes hanger covers Miss Edith will be truly unique for a very long time!

So, if you would like to be in with the chance of winning Miss Edith please leave a wee comment on this post telling me what it is that keeps you coming back again and again to read my wee blog, or why you even decided to pledge your support and follow it in the first place... simple! I'll be leaving this giveaway open over the weekend and will choose a winner sometime next week, Tuesday if I'm organised or Thurday if I'm not and possibly even Wednesday depending on how things go... Haha! I'll not ask you to write it in your dairies... ;)

Oh, and one or two rules to keep things fair...
~ Please only post your entries in the comment thread of this post, comments posted elsewhere will not be eligible.
~ Please ensure that you leave a way for me to contact you directly if you win, preferably a current and valid e-mail address. If there is no way to contact you, you will not be eligible to win.
~ I will contact the winner directly and place an announcement on this blog. If I do not hear back from the winner within three days I will choose an alternative winner for this giveaway.
~ This giveaway is open to all my blog readers worldwide.
~ You do not have to be a follower through 'Google Friend Connect' as I know that not everyone uses this method to keep up to date with their favourite blogs.
~ I will choose a winner myself and all decisions are final.

Wishing you all the most fabulous day!
Emma, x
